Pretty Patterns

Checkered Faces

ProfessorsCube Checkers.jpg

To get the Professors Cube cube into a state where each face is covered with a checkered pattern (orange-red, blue-green, and white-yellow), apply the following algorithm to three orthogonal faces:

U U u u d d D D

That is,

  • Two clockwise rotations of the upper layer
  • Two clockwise rotations of the upper two layers
  • Two clockwise rotations of the upper three layers
  • Two clockwise rotations of the upper four layers

Apply this algorithm to either the red or orange face; apply it to either the white or yellow face; and finally, apply it to either the blue or green face.
