July 2016/Pi Thing

Pi thing:
- start with cameras
- add some weather sensors - light, temperature, pressure, rain
- add a web sdr radio antenna sensor - record anomolous VHF spetra in specific ranges during the day
- web interface for displaying latest photo
- motors and motor control - but possibly on another pi
Security:
- VPN only
- Use OpenVPN to create a VPN between myself (e.g. 10.198.1.1) and that computer (10.198.1.2)
- Then see the latest by opening the browser to http://10.198.1.2/
Hardware components:
- Raspberry Pi 3 plain board (CHECK)
- Raspberry Pi 3 enclosure (CHECK)
- USB hookup to camera (ON ORDER)
- Camera weatherproof enclosure (ON ORDER)
- GoPro has weatherproof enclosure. Two problems:
- Power - solved by the USB continuous power cable (ON ORDER)
- Data transfer - this may make this a no-go for live camera feed (still useful, but for long-term fixed timelapses with gopro)
